Today we're talking about many topics--from we first met all the way to finding a new way of training horses, without force.

This the DANGER of a TALENTED horse: TRT Podcast - Episode 12
Переглядів 7 тис.6 місяців тому
In this episode I'm diving into the world of training talented horses. It's easy to take their abilities for granted, but rushing through exercises without a proper preparation, and the right explanation of all the steps, can lead to issues later on. Take flying changes for example. While a less talented horse requires careful steps like perfecting transitions, it can seem quite easy and effort...

It's not just about what we do but why we do it, to ensure horses live lives better than nature intended. Interested in learni...

    I like to learn all the things with that horse I have now and that learn myself to find ways my horse understands and feels the benefits from it. I want that my horse is happy doing things we both learn from. He pushes me to find that way he can learn it. He is always telling me when it is not the way he can learn. It is never the horses mistake but always mine 🥰🙏

    So right, unfortunately one year ago I chose a mentor because him being a national champion, telling me he can handle my stallions... After a year one horse was nearly destoyed, I hated going to the stables and even thought about ending my horse riding. It was definitely No Match! And it took me too long to decide to leave. I can understand that you say it takes time to understand where someone wants to bring you, but I can only recommend: if it doesn't feel right, LEAVE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

    I love the old Brett Kidding shows. I don't see any Brett Kiddding shows newer than 5 or 6 years ago (at least on my UA-cam). I'm pretty sure he's riding Zefir, who always seems to be in on the joke.

    I know TRT works as I’ve trained various difficult dangerous horses with this method and they have all turned out well. I’m always going to promote the TRT Method as nothing works as well in my opinion.

    Wow very interesting, however it’s taken me months to keep the chatter down to shhhhh whistle and cluck which works well with my horses, hearing the other trainers constant noises was quite difficult and I must admit not something I can now do as I’m a TRT convert lol. I definitely think limited noise is better however it works for her. Thank you for the show but I did have to turn sound off lol😂

    • @DJBelbe
      @DJBelbe 12 днів тому

      Haha, she does make tidbit too much chatter yes! I mean, im nowhere near her level and im not as quiet as tristan either but i do find that less is more. I tend to add a few words here and there though as i notice they help, like a low and friendly "goood", a sharp and warning "heh!" Or quiet chat with someone else while standing still (most horses seem to understand we stopped to chat better than we just stopped for no reason and get uneasy 😂)

      Totally agree!!! It was driving me CRAZY!!! I can’t imagine how a nonverbal creature enjoys that either. A few verbal cues ok, but that CONSTANT cacophony of noise just NO.

    Thank you for sharing. I agree with a lots of things but I don’t agree with that the horses have to find the right way. I think that’s creates a lots of frustration and anger. It’s like criticise something and not saying what we should do. You have to lead the horse to the right thing. The don’t speak our language and they don’t understand our body language. It’s important to show what we mean. It’s the same with kids. Constructive criticism is the best thing. I’ve been teaching both horses and kids or well they teach me.

    • @DJBelbe
      @DJBelbe 12 днів тому

      He does show them the right way! What do you think he's doing by drawing attention to their tension points? I have a massive necked stallion so I simply drew his attention to his stonebrick neck a couple of times and now, of his own accord, he will lower his neck and take a deep breath everytime he's faced with a stressful situation. He did understand it feels much better to release the tension then just stand there like a statue out of breadth and wait for mama to go ahead and save him everytime. Mama may not always be there. Its very important that they learn to cope well on their own.

    I know next to nothing about horses or training horses, but this video was a triple joy for me. - As a corporate coach, I enjoy seeing Tristan helping the horse look within himself, as we do when we coach an executive - It was a pleasure seeing Alizee use a lot of verbal feedback, what I call micro-feedback when coaching - And finally, the most interesting, is seeing both take a step back and reflect on their practice as they explored the practice of the other. Two masters at work with the constant thrive to discover, improve and learn A thing of beauty Thank you, merci!

    I have vision issues as well and am struggling with my "athletic" yearling. I think this video has convinced me to go back to physical therapy. Thank you to Britt for sharing her story. Thank you Tristan for creating this video. It's not uncommon to have concussions when you've worked with horses for a long time. Healing from them, and how the after effects can directly affect our horsemanship... It's important to talk about it.
